The core ScepterAir platform has been augmented to meet the global operational needs of the oil and gas industry for point-source methane detection. With critical input from ExxonMobil, Scepter will provide real-time information-as-a-service on methane leaks and flare detection.
A unique five-step process characterizes the service offering: detect, quantify, inform, abate, and certify. Space-based sensors will detect fugitive emissions of at least 50-75kg of methane per hour and the platform will fuse ancillary datasets to fully-characterize methane emissions on different spatial and temporal scales. Actionable information produced by the platform provides avenues for abatement and exactly what’s needed for future certification.
